I have practiced yoga for the last 12 years and taught since 2005. Before my teacher training I took some time off my job in an art organisation in London, to go to Mysore in India. There I studied Ashtanga yoga and when I returned to London I decided to train as a yoga teacher with Lara Baumann, OM Station. When I became pregnant with my fist child I also trained as a pregnancy yoga teacher with the inspirational Dr. Francoise Freedman, the founder of Birthlight. The training greatly helped me during my pregnancy and also to go through labour with a sense of confidence and calm.
I lived on the Isle of Mull in the Hebrides for three years before my family and I moved to Cambridge, where I am currently studying for an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Anglia Ruskin University. I now teach a popular and welcoming pregnancy class in Central Cambridge. The class has a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Each class follows a similar pattern working through the whole body with a mixture of traditional yoga postures and specially adapted postures for pregnancy, with the aim to relax and strengthen the body. Pregnancy yoga is an ideal form of exercise for pregnant women and it can help to alleviate some of the physical discomforts and minor ailments associated with pregnancy in a safe way. Some classes are specially focused on alignment, pelvic girdle pain or other areas of the body. Each class also has some breathing exercises and focused relaxation. I have now been teaching Pregnancy Yoga in Cambridge for over two years, and already I am seeing some mothers for their second babies.
